Precautions Test dosage before treatment to assess for allergic reactions. Use antihistamines, corticosteroids (have epinephrine available in case of allergy). Retreatment at later time requires special precautions
Side Effects Fever, allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), neurologic problems (seizures, reduced level of consciousness, drowsiness), stroke, liver malfunction, weakness, increased blood sugar, pancreatitis, kidney failure, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, sore mouth, malabsorption
